Casa de la Universidad de California is available to host a variety of academic and social events organized by the UC community as well as their partners in Mexico City, such as lectures, seminars, business meetings, reunions, banquets, and anniversaries.
Casa is located in the exclusive Chimalistac neighborhood, in the south section of the city. Along with the nearby Coyoacán and San Ángel neighborhoods, Chimalistac is known for its colonial architecture and active cultural life (bookstores, galleries, cafes, museums, theaters, etc.). The National University (UNAM) is close by and the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) as well as important institutions of higher learning and research only a few miles away. The famous Bazaar del Sábado and the Ex-Convento del Carmen are within walking distance, and cultural landmarks such as the Frida Kahlo and Anahuacalli Museums can be reached within minutes.
The property consists of four buildings surrounded by attractive well-groomed gardens. The oldest structure is “La Casona,” an elegant 9,202 sq.ft. two-story house that dates back to the early 20th Century Belle Époque period in Mexico. La Casona has two main conference rooms, a formal dinning area, and three multiple purpose meeting rooms which can also be set up as offices.
